PRESS BRIEFING ON THE 2019 NORTHERN CROSS RIVER CULTURAL FESTIVAL (NORTHFEST), BY HON. KENNETH AKLAH – CHAIRMAN, CENTRAL PLANNING COMMITTEE, MONDAY 21, 2019

In Cross River State and more specifically in our rural communities, the month of August – November each year are characterized by merriment and Thanksgiving; as farmers bring home their cherished bumper harvest after a prolong period of planting and waiting. Principal among this merriment is the New Yam Festival which the Northern, Cross River Cultural Festival (NORTHERN) is a part.

2019 NORTHERN THEME

The Theme for this year’s NORTHERN is “HUMANITY” Uniting the people, Increasing Production.
Using Tourism to boost Cross River Economic

It is also Having Humanity in focus that informed the proactive thinking of His Excellent, the Governor – Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade to engage in massive industrialization of the state in order to arrest widespread unemployment among the youths and curb its attendant consequence. From the Rice Seeding and Multiplication factory, the Garment factory, the Rice mill, the cocoa processing industry, the toothpick factory etc.

INTRODUCTION OF NEW AWARD IN 2019 NORTHFEST

The Governor in his deliberate attempt to bring out the Ingenuity of the people of Northern Cross River, has instituted a month watering prize for the “Best Agric innovation Machine” in this year’s NORTHFEST.

The achievement the brought to cross river is intangible & Tangible… It brings about exchanges of ideal.
