Effiom Trombone, Commissioner for the Calabar Carnival Commission, took to his Facebook earlier today to express his frustration over an unexpected hurdle in remixing his global hit, "Eyen Calabar."
The idea to revamp the song was first suggested by renowned music producer Pat4Peace, who reached out to Effiom Trombone with a vision to refresh the track in order to celebrate and promote Calabar's rich culture. Pat4Peace also recommended featuring South-South’s award-winning rappers, Upper X and Youngbone, to give the remix an extra boost of appeal.
Excited by the prospect, Effiom Trombone embraced the idea and contacted the two artists. However, to his shock, both rappers demanded 500,000 Naira each for the collaboration. The hefty price tag led the commissioner to vent his frustration on social media, sharing his disappointment over what he saw as an unexpected and excessive demand.
